I need to waterproof my 450SL's top. It is a 1979 model with only 7M original miles, but has a dealer-installed top that I believe is brand new. The problem is that during a recent rain storm (very hard rain) I noticed water dripping into the passenger compartment. I went on line looking for waterproofing but it seems confusing and I want to do this right to protect my Benz.

This is what I use and have been pleased with it. It was recommended to me by another happy customer.

Thanks. That is one of several I had found on the net, but your recommendation is important. I also see that they have a cleaner for my plastic window that is yellowing. I see you are a bit South of me. I live in Emerald Isle.

MB also sells something in a spray can, cover the paint and windows in plastic!

Thanks, peter. i will check into that. I had already heard that I need to make certain that I protect the paint and windows.

I can't give much advice on the top, as my convertible is of a different make (Honda S 2000). But I do have a treatment to recommend to protect the rear window if it is not badly yellowed. First, I spray 303 on the clear plastic and wipe just a bit. Then I let it soak in for 1/2 hour or so. Then I clean off any residue 303 with Plexus. This keeps my window soft and clear, and rids it of minor scratching.
Thanks,
Richard :) :) :)
