I need to remove the vanity lamp from the sunvisor. There are two "slots" at the bottom of the lamp assembly. I poked a scewdriver into them but could not remove the lamp. I did not exert much force as I was concerned that I may break the plastic. Please let me know how to remove the lamp parts from the sunvisor without causing damage. Any reply appreciated.

the vanity mirror...is glued/taped.... if you can free it... there are wires that go to the metal leads on the right clip...
if you unscrew it on the left...the entire visor will just come off....
why do you need to remove the mirror?

I just purchased a pair of visors with good mirror covers (mine are broken at the hinges). However they are gray and mine are black. I was hoping to remove the components to make a better job of re-coloring. However-if I am likely to destroy the visor by dismantling I may just do the best masking job I can and re-color as a whole. Thanks for your input.

Just caught this topic, and somewhat related issue for any input please:
The mirror light will not illuminate. I checked the bulb, and it was OK. A MB tech. believes that the internal 'switch' in the visor is not functioning, and I would have to buy a new visor. A new visor was quoted from the dealer at approx. $126!! I can and will live without the light, but is there any DIY way to fix without buying a new visor?? :)

The light is wired to a set of contacts on the "clip" side of the visor. Maybe you need to clean the metal contacts on both pieces.
With the visor in place, try wiggling it or putting a bit of pressure on the clip as you open the lighted mirror... sounds more like the contacts not completing a circuit.
I have had that problem before.

Lee---your suggestion led me to the problem! One of the two contacts was missing on the visor that engage the clip. Thats why the circuit was open. I improvised with a brass tack cut to size and now for the first time since I had the car, the visor light works!!
Thanks!!! :)
