Hey all. For my first post I'd like to do something a lot of y'all can do in your sleep--take apart my dash. I've removed various bolts and everything is nice and loose but... that's all I've got. I really could use a picture or a really detailed explanation, starting with the bottom driver-side panels. I'm totally new to MB--bought my wagon with 207k on it about 6 months ago. I'm attempting to fix a problem and do an upgrade at the same time--the problem is a loud speedometer squeak and the upgrade is the installation of non-MB 5.25" speakers in the front/top dash panel.

Okay, so I've gotten a little bit further. I now have the instrument panel out and the bottom underneath the driver's side is a little bit looser. However, all help is still appreciated. I forgot to mention in my original post that I have a 1988 300TE. White on blue. I love it.

Took 2 of us to wiggle the dash out of the car.

That was after we discovered that a piece of cloth binding from the dash had been sealed between the windshield and the frame. While my assistant held the dash steady in place, I cut the cloth with a razor blade.

By the way, you do have the Mercedes maintenance and repair CD, don't you?
