I have a Becker Mexico AM/FM/Stereo cassette radio in my 1963 220SEb. I have been told that it isn't an original equipment but came as an option on later models. It is an excellent quality radio with a "bar" station selector, but I want to add a remote CD changer so I can listen to CD's. I don't want to replace the Becker, not only because it works fine, but looks original to the unsuspecting. The new car radios with all their graphics look too modern for my vintage ride. A local car radio shop said I needed to replace the radio with a modern one in order to have a CD player. Their reasoning is that since the Mexico doesn't have "pushbutton" selection that could be programmed exactly to an unused frequency, to program the CD changer to, it's incompatible! Are there any knowledgeable audiophiles out there that have an opinion or can offer a solution?

Hello,
Ed Ebel with Becker of North America is the man with all the answers. They have an amazing amount of information, parts, and services for these old Beckers. eebel@beckerautosound.com You can also phone him (888) 423-3537. Ed has always been very helpful and supportive.
He can also fix you up with original knobs for your Mexico which will match the rest of the original knobs in your car.

Sent an email to ED Ebel at Becker America, and for those of you that may want to make a similar modification, this is what he offered: " It is quite simple, use an RF modulated CD changer and simply press the signal seeker bar when you turn the CD changer on and the radio will automatically seek to that transmitted signal".
