I have a 1982 380SL that has a white exterior. The paint condition is perfect and I want to keep it that way. What type of paint did MB use in '82? I trying to decide what kind of detailing products I should be using. I've been reading alot about being very careful if it has a BC/CC finish. Is that what they used then?

I doubt the white paint was clearcoated. regardless, your routine would generally be the same: assuming the paint is in excellent condition, you can do a gentle polish followed up by a carnauba wax or one of the better sealants.
The data plate in the engine bay may be able to tell you if clear coat was applied. Otherwise, you can do a simple test with a dark colored polishing cloth, by doing some light polishing and checking if any paint is transferred, which would indicate that there's nothing between the rag and the white color coat.

Joe, I have a MB paint chart that shows Classic White (Paint Code DB737) used 1975 - 1985 is a single stage paint. I recommend using paint cleaning clay, a fine machine polish and a high quality carnauba wax to maintain the paint. It's important to keep a good coat of wax on the paint to protect it. Parking the car in a garage will extend the time between waxings.
