Yesterday as I was cleaning my car, I noticed a couple of places where the paint has chiped. These were in the front hood of the car and probably a result of wear and tear on the car. They are small chips with the biggest ones being the size of a small pea. Is there anything I can do to prevent further damage caused by the chips. For example, I don't want excessive moisture getting underneath the paint t cause bubbling. I have thought about applying a light coat of clear nail polish just to seal it.

FYI - my car is silver color and is a 2001 model E class. From what I have read, the paint chips pretty easily on these cars.

The paint on the newer MB cars is water-based and does chip easily. I doubt that you need to worry about moisture getting under the paint causing to bubble. The paint isn't that poor a quality. Apply some MB touch-up paint and keep a good coat of wax on your car to protect the paint.
