Does anyone have a suggestion where to get the old style fuel and water clamps that were installed on early models? I'm interested in the kind that use a screw and nut on a metal band and came in fixed size ranges, i.e. 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, etc. (I have a box of the original beat-up clamps from my old car that I have kept many years for reference) I have seen these clamps on restored cars along with the larger metal band/cotter pin wrap style clamps, but when I have asked about a source vendor I have been brushed off with vague replies of the "they're available from everyone" variety. It's treated almost like a trade secret that is not to be revealed to anyone outside the Guild of Big-Buck$ Mercede$ Benz Re$toration Craft$men. Now, maybe I'm dense (I know some folks who would probably sign on to that opinion) or an incompetent shopper, but every parts supplier I've contacted has understood what I'm looking for. They simply have been unable to supply it and are unable to refer me to a source. Anyone know of a source? Add to the primary question a source for the underhood decals. the genuine water-transfer style, not the sticky back peel-off variety.

You can buy these type of clamps at any Pep Boys or another auto parts store. They call them fuel injected fuelline clamps.

Thanks for the referral, but I am looking for some of the original german clamps, not the made in Taiwan clamps sold at Checker and Pep Boys. The variety-pack selections of these clamps are all same size and vary from shiny zinc to phosphate black, in the same package, and all are prominantly stamped "Taiwan." Of course, they could be used in a pinch, but the aim here is to return the underhood area to its original appearance, which, to me, dictates the use of original clamps from the german supplier. Also, there are several sizes of these clamps used in various areas underhood. Hence my inquiry for the original german variety.

I am patient, if nothing else, and am confident I will find what I look for. Again, thanks for the referal.

I'm not sure that the clamps used on the 190sl are the same, but Ron Rapp at SL Auto Haus 804 758-2119 carries the screwed/banded/hinged straps and two or three sizes of the cotter pin type.

As I said above, the dealer has them and they're cheap.
